Top US School District Switches to Rimini Street for Oracle Database and Oracle E-Business Suite Support

Douglas County School District using savings to develop district-wide data visualization capabilities

LAS VEGAS – January 14, 2016 – Rimini Street, Inc., the leading global independent provider of enterprise software support services for SAP SE’s (NYSE:SAP) Business Suite and BusinessObjects software and Oracle Corporation’s (NYSE:ORCL) Siebel, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, E-Business Suite, Oracle Database, Oracle Middleware, Hyperion, Oracle Retail and Oracle Agile PLM, today announced that Douglas County School District, the third largest school district in the state of Colorado, has switched to Rimini Street for support of the organization’s Oracle Database 11.2 and Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) 11.5.10 software, including support for its EBS payroll application. In choosing Rimini Street for support of its Oracle products, Douglas County School District has shifted funding to more innovative technology and IT initiatives such as a district-wide data visualization platform that will help enhance the district’s decision making capabilities, to better deliver on its mission of providing a world-class education to its students.

“As a public school district, we are constantly assessing ways to reduce costs in order to put that money back into the classrooms and other investments that help our students in their educational pursuits,” said Gautam Sethi, chief technology officer at Douglas County School District. “One of our most expensive contracts was for Oracle EBS and database products, and after speaking to several organizations that had already moved to independent support, we concluded that switching to Rimini Street was the smart strategy for us. They deliver exactly what we need – mission-critical support and better service – while dramatically cutting our annual ERP and database maintenance budgets in half and enabling the school district to get far more value out of its IT budget.”

Savings from Maintenance Budget to Help Drive Key Initiatives

The Douglas County School District is responsible for the education of over 67,000 students in 86 K-12 schools, and employs more than 7,500 employees. In 2014, the school district reported nearly 89% graduation rates, one of the highest in the Denver Metro Area. In response to concerted efforts to curb costs and achieve greater efficiency from their ERP landscape, Douglas County School District decided to switch from Oracle to Rimini Street for support of the organization’s existing Oracle EBS application, as well as the Oracle Database product.

As a result of making the switch, Douglas County School District slashed annual maintenance costs in half, but more importantly, avoided an expensive and potentially disruptive forced upgrade to EBS R12 which would have cost the District $3.5 million. They are redirecting the savings towards delivering a new platform that will allow the district to view data holistically across all aspects, from its students and teachers, to the budget and facilities, in order to help better inform district managers and decision-makers.

Douglas County School District also enjoys much higher levels of service than it received from the vendor, including 24x7x365 support from a named, local Primary Support Engineer (PSE), support for its highly customized application at no additional cost, as well as guaranteed support for up to 15 years on their existing Oracle ERP products.

“Through the passion and dedication of its talented educators and pioneering leaders, Douglas County School District has made it possible for thousands of students to succeed in the college or career path of their choice. Rimini Street is proud to be a partner to this organization and to help enable their commitment to ensuring that students receive a world-class education,” said Seth Ravin, CEO, Rimini Street. “For the past 10 years, we have made it our mission at Rimini Street to help organizations all over the world achieve their IT and business goals.”
