Arakawa Kodomo Ouen Network is a group of smaller organizations that focus on creating a sustainable, healthy community by investing in the welfare and development of children and teens regardless of their family’s income, background, or beliefs. At Arakawa, both adults and children are encouraged to interact and learn from one another by creating a safe network and place to grow together. The adults are volunteers that take on a variety of roles including teacher, advocate, mentor and friend. The children and teens are from the Arakawa region which is home to many lower-income families and one-parent homes.
HOT STATION Children’s Village is open to volunteers and children every Thursday of every week for shared meals prepared by the volunteers. Rimini Street was invited to join them for a delicious meal of salad and pasta followed by ice cream dessert. After we helped to clean the plates and silverware, we enjoyed several rounds of Jenga and a popular stacking game called Rhino Hero. We had a terrific time testing our powers of physics with the members and one another! We ended our evening with a ceremonial donor presentation to HOT STATION to cover the cost for 30 children and volunteers to enjoy a real camping trip in the forest. Thank you HOT STATION Family for your hospitality. We look forward to hearing all about your wonderful camping experience!
