In Tel Aviv, Israel, there is a home that welcomes teenagers of every background, belief, and situation with open arms. The teens that reside here may have once come from troubled home situations or are runaways or are homeless, but once they come to Makom Acher, they become part of a family that takes care of one another and puts them on a path to independence and healing. In this three-story home, there are several sleeping rooms designed to suit the personalities of young adults as well as a computer room, recreational area, and counseling room. Team Israel partnered with Makom Acher to revamp and beautify their backyard which needed fresh paint on its walls and furniture, a new shade covering, and an updated garden.
As Rimini Street loves to do, we rolled up our sleeves and got right into our project! We cleaned up the walls, repainted them to a bright white, sanded down the furniture and gave them a colorful paint job, removed the existing bamboo cover and replaced it with a new set, and created a pretty garden where flowers will bloom like the hearts of the Makom Acher family. We hope the new backyard will serve as a beautiful sanctuary where both the teens and volunteers will enjoy many moments of laughter and peace together as one.
