FAQs
What is VMware Horizon called now?
VMware Horizon has now been rebranded as Omnissa Horizon. In 2024, Broadcom divested its End-User Computing (EUC) division, which includes Horizon and Workspace One, into a standalone entity called Omnissa. KKR, a private equity firm, acquired Omnissa in 2024.
Does Broadcom no longer support VMware Horizon?
Broadcom no longer supports VMware Horizon after divesting their EUC division to Omnissa in 2024. Broadcom announced the end of general support (EoGS) for Horizon-related components on March 28, 2025. Customers still using Horizon can choose to work with Omnissa for updates, bug fixes and security patches, or they can choose third-party support for Horizon from Rimini Street.
When does VMware Horizon Support end?
Broadcom stopped offering support for all components related to Horizon on March 28, 2025. This includes support for Aria Operations Management Pack for Horizon (MP4H).
Is Omnissa offering a subscription model for Horizon?
Yes, Omnissa offers two subscription-based options for ongoing Horizon support. The Term subscription option is for on-premises deployments, and the SaaS subscription option is for cloud deployments. However, both subscription models can be very expensive, especially when compared to maintaining perpetual licenses. Migrating to Omnissa’s subscription model may also require a complex and expensive upgrade process. Omnissa does not offer perpetual licenses for Horizon, leaving those with perpetual licenses for Horizon without support. Rimini Support™ for Horizon resolves this challenge by providing comprehensive support and security solutions that effectively extends the life of the Horizon environment for years to come.
What are my available options for VMware Horizon support?
Now that the end of support date for Horizon has passed, you can either transition to an alternative hypervisor, enter a subscription agreement with Omnissa for ongoing support, transition to third-party VMware support or choose self-support. Learn more about your options.
